Vase and water are entering a symbiosis. The water needs the vase so it does not flow away. The vase in turn, needs the water to remain in shape. On the one hand V. is extremely stable, on the other hand it is not able to stand on its own feet. Without water it transforms into an informal piece of skin. Thus, robbed of it's function, it withers together with the flower.
